My Love Affair With MV DOULOS

MV Doulos which was built and constructed in 1914 and is only two years younger than the Titanic docked on Pier 1, Gate Entrance her in Cebu. It carried and conveyed six thousand book titles across the oceans and reached different parts of the globe and world. MV Doulos holds the title, the “World’s Largest Floating Book Fair”. It had three hundred fifty volunteers from 50 countries which live and work together onboard. Doulos aimed and seek to bring knowledge, help and hope to the nations. Since 1977, Doulos has visited more than one hundred countries, welcoming over 19 million visitors onboard. Doulos carried a stock of half a million books for sale, covering subjects such as Science, Education, Sports, Cookery, History, Technology, Photography, Christian Living, a wide range of Children’s Literature and others. On the 12th day of February 2007, University of the Philippines (High School Department) decided to explore the beauty of MV Doulos. We shared a lot of fun and amusement together with the Doulos books and the international crews and staffs. I was very happy for those times because that was my second time to be in a ship. They were selling mouth watering deserts but I did not buy anything because I had no money. We read different informative books, which contained a lot of knowledge, awareness to the community etc., and they really added to the person’s range of information. The books for me was very expensive so I just came there watching books. There were also Doulos key chains, mugs, pencils, notebooks etc. which served as a souvenir. We also enjoyed the natured view at the top of the ship. The Doulos international crews and staffs introduced their selves to us and share their experiences as they tour and travel around the world. We also enjoyed the games they organized and the prizes waiting for the winner. We watched on screen on how they surpassed the difficulties and on how they work and depend on each other as they journeyed our world. They really worked hand on hand to make their travel successful. They also gave us magazine and booklet entitled, “Book of Hope (Customized animation Edition) and ‘The Most Important Story Ever Told”. They believed on their slogan, “Take a Look at God’s Book, start the greatest adventure of tour life! I really enjoyed reading those booklets, which pushed me to have a stronger connection and fate to our Almighty Jesus Christ.
It was a great experience that I able to enter the “World’s Largest Floating Book Fair”, the MV Doulos and on the other hand, it was also a great opportunity that I met its international crews and staffs who managed the journey of MV Doulos around the world.. Moreso, Doulos books helped to enhance my stored knowledge and also, I learned some knowledgeable informations on different fields like the book of magic tricks, the tricks there were very effective even though it needs less effort.
I really thank the lord for making that day very memorable to me.
